Proper waste separation
Proper separation is what matters! What goes where, and where can you dispose of it? Find out here.
According to legal requirements, the waste management concept of the City of Frankfurt am Main provides for the separate disposal of household waste. The City of Frankfurt am Main charges usage fees for using the waste disposal facilities. The waste fee statute provides information on rates, calculation methods, and payment regulations. Collection is carried out through pickup and drop-off systems.
Collection system
Collection system means we pick up the generated waste or recyclable materials directly from your location.
For the collection of residual waste, organic waste, paper, and packaging, we provide the appropriate waste bins.
Bulky waste is collected from you by appointment.
In the so-called settlement collection, bulky waste is collected on fixed dates every four weeks. This only applies to certain residential areas. You can find out by phone at 0800 2008007-0 whether you are connected to the settlement collection. There – or at your housing association – you can also get the collection dates.
Drop-off system
Drop-off system means you bring waste to specific disposal locations.
For glass, drop-off containers are available throughout the city. Collection is separated by color: white, brown, and green. Blue or colored bottles are counted as green glass.
Hazardous waste can be dropped off at mobile collection points or stationary collection sites (at the North and West recycling centers). The mobile hazardous waste collection takes place three to four times a month at fixed times in each district of Frankfurt.
Small electrical appliances must be handed in through the trunk service or at the mobile small electrical appliance collection.
