bulky waste
Bulky waste – no problem
You can easily arrange an appointment for bulky waste collection. This can be done either by phone: 0800 2008007‑10 or online (registration/login required). We dispose of up to 10 m3 of bulky waste free of charge – this service is available to all residents of Frankfurt who are connected to the fee‑based waste collection system. Larger quantities can only be collected for a fee. If you have any questions about this service, we are happy to assist you by phone at 0800 2008007‑10 or by e‑mail at services@fes-frankfurt.de. In the so‑called settlement collection, bulky waste is picked up at fixed dates every four weeks. However, this only applies to certain residential areas. Whether you are connected to the settlement collection can be found out by calling 0800 2008007‑10. There – or at the respective housing association – you will also find out the collection dates. We carry out the collection of bulky waste and the associated data collection on behalf of the Externer Link zu City of Frankfurt am Main (Privacy Policy).

What is bulky waste?
Bulky waste refers to all movable items that do not fit in waste bins due to their size. This includes all bulky items that you would take with you when moving house. Large electrical appliances are also disposed of as part of the bulky waste service. Please hand in small electrical appliances such as mobile phones or hairdryers as part of the boot service. We dispose of your bulky waste by type using three different vehicles.
What does not belong in bulky waste?
-
Waste from renovation work such as windows, doors, wall coverings, and sanitary installations.
-
Hazardous substances such as wood preservatives, leftover paint, or fluorescent tubes should be taken to the FES hazardous waste mobile. You can find current dates and locations here.
-
Car tires – disposal options are available in our Waste ABC.
-
Used clothes – in Bornheim, Nordend, and Seckbach, use Externer Link zu our Klamoddekurier.
When should bulky waste be put out?
On collection day, everything must be ready by 6 a.m. at the latest, but no earlier than 3.30 p.m. the day before. This limits the addition of items and rummaging through the rubbish. Premature disposal is an administrative offence that can be punished by the City of Frankfurt am Main.
Where should the bulky waste be placed?
Bulky waste must be placed on level ground on the property in a location that is easily accessible for the collection vehicle – for example, the front garden, house entrance, gate entrance, garage forecourt – in such a way that the transport route for the loading team is safe and does not exceed 5 metres, and that passage widths of more than 1.5 metres are ensured. If this is not possible, it should be placed on the pavement of the public road in front of the property in a way that does not obstruct traffic. There must be a clear distinction between bulky waste and other property. If there is any doubt, the owner must be present at the time of collection.
By the way:
For those in a hurry, GWR GmbH (formerly Werkstatt Frankfurt) offers a paid Externer Link zu bulky waste collection service. GWR will notify you of the specific date for bulky waste collection.
In addition, as part of the boot service, you have the option of disposing of up to 1m³ of bulky waste at our recycling centres or small waste collection points. This offer is available to all Frankfurt residents who are connected to the residual waste collection service, regardless of whether they have an individual bulky waste collection appointment or use the residential waste collection service.
