Frankfurters lend a helping hand

Our city – our responsibility

It goes without saying that rubbish belongs in the bins provided for it and bulky waste should not be left on the pavement without prior notification. Unfortunately, not everyone thinks this way. We remove rubbish and illegal bulky waste as quickly as possible – but we cannot always be there immediately.

As committed residents of Frankfurt, you can help us when we are not there. At the same time, your commitment sends a clear message: our city becomes more beautiful and liveable when we all contribute.

We support your commitment to a clean, livable city in two ways:

1. For those with ongoing commitment: Become a good angel

As a guardian angel of your city, you regularly take care of a section of road or square of your choice. It is also possible to look after a green space. You can dispose of smaller amounts of waste yourself and on your own responsibility. However, where there is already some waste, more can easily be added. For larger deposits, such as bulky waste that has not been reported for collection, simply inform us by email or telephone.

We will support you with advice and assistance in this "sponsorship". We will provide you with bin bags, litter pickers and gloves and will always ensure that you have a supply. A designated contact person is available to answer any questions or resolve any problems.

As a good angel, you naturally determine the size of the area and the extent of your commitment yourself.

Set a good example and inspire your fellow citizens to take even better care of our environment. Help raise awareness of the city's appearance. Perhaps you can even recruit other committed citizens to join you in your efforts!

2. For everyone with initiative in the group: the citizens' collection day

Vielleicht liegt Ihnen ein bestimmter Stadtteil oder Ort in Frankfurt besonders am Herzen? Ein Kinderspielplatz, eine Brachfläche oder ein Stück Natur, das Sie einmal gerne sauberer und damit schöner machen möchten? Ergreifen Sie die Initiative zum Aufräumen in der Gruppe, und wir unterstützen Sie. Mitmachen kann grundsätzlich jeder: Vereine, Schulen, interessierte Bürgerinnen und Bürger oder engagierte Nachbarn.

Wir stellen Ihnen Abfallgreifzangen, Müllsäcke und Handschuhe zur Verfügung. Und wir kümmern uns anschließend um die umweltgerechte Entsorgung. Im Fall von Grünflächen wie Parks, Spielplätzen oder dem Stadtwald bitten wir Sie, mit dem Grünflächenamt Kontakt aufzunehmen: gruenflaechenamt@stadt-frankfurt.de bzw. stadtforst@stadt-frankfurt.de. Hilfsmaterial können Sie aber in jedem Fall von uns erhalten.

Mit unserer Unterstützung finden jährlich in ganz Frankfurt deutlich über 100 Bürger-Sammeltage statt, initiiert von ganz unterschiedlichen Gruppen. Der Effekt: Nach den Aktionen fühlen sich alle wohler. Weil sie gemeinsam etwas für ihren Stadtteil getan haben. Und weil es dort, wo aufgeräumt wurde, nicht so schnell wieder vermüllt.
