The announced high temperatures this week mean that there will be no staff at the Landgraben small waste site in Frankfurt. FES Frankfurter Entsorgungs- und Service GmbH opens the self-service from Tuesday, 12.08.2025, to Saturday, 23.08.2025, from 08:00 to 20:00, so that citizens can continue to drop off their garden waste, bulky waste, paper, used clothing, bottles, light packaging, and metals. Only a mobile phone is required to use the service.

Frankfurt residents book a 10-minute time slot via the Maex self-service app, developed by FES co-shareholder Remondis, open the gate via Bluetooth at the agreed time, drop off their recyclables, and leave the site.

The measure is intended to protect staff. FES CEO Remmert says:

“When it’s this hot, work at the Landgraben small waste site is particularly exhausting. With self-service, we can protect our employees while still allowing citizens to deposit recyclables.”

At the Enkheim small waste site on Barbarossastraße, no self-service portal is available. The site remains closed from Tuesday to Saturday due to the announced heat. FES recycling centers are open as usual.
